NFL Player — Coach Youth and High School Football Grant Program

About the Program

Through the NFL Player-Coach Youth and High School Football Grant Program, former NFL players who currently serve as registered head or assistant youth and high school football coaches may apply to the YFF for grants ranging from $2,500-$10,000 to help support their youth or high school football teams. Grant awards must be earmarked for non-salary/non-personnel related costs including the purchase of football field equipment, uniforms, helmets, field refurbishment projects, etc. This grant program recognizes former NFL players who return to their communities to mentor and coach youth or high school football athletes while also providing support to youth and high school football teams nationwide.

Who Can Apply

Former NFL players vested under the Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan.

  • The YFF does not permit youth or high school football programs to receive NFL Player-Coach Grant support two years in a row in order to provide funding opportunities for new/other football programs coached by former NFL players.
  • Therefore, if an NFL Player-Coach Youth/High School Football Grant was issued to a particular football program in 2010, that program is not eligible to apply for or receive another NFL Player-Coach Grant until 2012.

Award Amount

Grant awards of up to $10,000.

Funding eligibility in the $8,000 - $10,000 range is considered only for those applicants either starting new youth or high school football programs or planning major football field refurbishment projects.
